AFCON 2025: Senegal Confirms Permanent Coach

After being without a permanent coach for more than 4 months, the Senegal Football Federation has confirmed a permanent coach for the Teranga Lions, BSNSports.com.ng reports.

The football Federation in Senegal refused to extend the contract of Aliou Cissé who has been with the team since 2016.

During his stay as the coach of the team, Cissé only secured one African Cup of Nations title which he won in 2021 Cameroon.

His assistant Pape Thiaw was given the appointment on an interim basis and he was able to secured AFCON 2025 ticket for the team.

He was confirmed as the permanent coach of the team on Friday evening and is expected to lead the team in the upcoming 2026 World Cup qualifier starting in March, 2025.
