The Teranga Lions of Senegal booked their place in the quarter-finals of the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations in Morocco following a comfortable 3-1 victory over Sudan, BSNSports.com.ng reports.

Sudan made a bright start to the encounter and stunned the defending champions when Yunis Abdallah opened the scoring in the 15th minute.

However, Senegal responded positively and restored parity 15 minutes later through Pape Gueye, who finished off a well-worked team move.

Senegal continued to press for a second goal and were rewarded just before the halftime break, as they took the lead to go into the interval with a 2-1 advantage.

The West Africans maintained control of the game in the second half, limiting Sudan’s attacking threat.

Mbaye put the result beyond doubt in the 77th minute, scoring Senegal’s third goal to seal the win.

The victory secures Senegal a place in the quarter-finals, as the 2021 champions continue their quest for another continental title at AFCON 2025.
