AFCON 2025: Ticket Sales Suspended After Overwhelming Demand

The Local Organizing Committee (LOC) for the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations has temporarily suspended ticket sales just hours after officially launching them on Thursday, BSNSports.com.ng reports

The committee had announced the commencement of sales to huge anticipation across the continent, but demand far exceeded the system’s capacity, forcing an immediate halt.

According to the LOC, fans from across Africa and beyond flooded the online platform in their bid to secure tickets for the tournament, scheduled to hold next year.

The unexpected surge caused technical issues, leading to the suspension.

“The passion for African football is unmatched, and the interest we’ve seen today is a testament to that,” an LOC statement read.

“We are working swiftly to upgrade our systems and ensure that fans can purchase tickets smoothly when sales resume.”

The committee assured that a new date for ticket sales will be communicated soon, with improved infrastructure to handle the massive interest.

The 2025 AFCON, billed to be one of the most competitive in recent years, will host Africa’s top footballing nations as they battle for continental glory.
