Tunisia Football Federation Vice President Hussien Jenayah is facing potential sanctions following inappropriate conduct during Tunisia’s second-round match against Nigeria, BSNSports.com.ng reports.
The Confederation of African Football (CAF) confirmed that its Disciplinary Committee received a formal complaint from a CAF protocol officer regarding Jenayah’s actions in the VIP section during the December 27 Group C fixture in Fez, Morocco. The tournament continues in Morocco until January 18.
In his statement to investigators, Jenayah claimed the incident arose over a seating dispute and denied requesting to sit next to CAF President Patrice Motsepe.
However, protocol officials provided photographs and testimonies from three witnesses of different nationalities, all confirming a breach of protocol.
According to the reports, Jenayah allegedly requested front-row seating next to the African Union president, despite the fact that his assigned seat was behind the first row and no other Tunisian official’s seating was affected. The officials deemed his objection unacceptable.
As a result, Jenayah was barred from entering the Mohammed V Stadium to attend Tunisia’s round-of-16 match against Mali, pending the final ruling from the CAF Disciplinary Committee.
