The captain of the Uganda national team, Ivan Ahimbisbwe, has set his sights on securing a crucial victory against Nigeria as the Cranes chase qualification for the round of 16 at the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations in Morocco, BSNSports.com.ng reports.

Uganda began their Group campaign with a 3-1 defeat to Tunisia before recovering to earn a draw against Tanzania in their second outing.

With just one point from two matches, the East Africans must defeat the Super Eagles in their final group game to keep their hopes of progressing alive.

Speaking ahead of the decisive encounter, Ahimbisbwe expressed confidence in the team’s ability to rise to the occasion, stressing the importance of belief and the right mentality.

“We are going back to the drawing board. We expect to have a good game against Nigeria,” the skipper said.

“We believe in ourselves, come with a good mentality and try to win.”

Nigeria, who are among the tournament favourites, will pose a stern test, but Uganda remain determined to deliver a strong performance and secure the result needed to advance to the knockout stage.
