AFCON 2025: Uyo Stadiums Undergo Renovations

To maintain its status as one of the best place in sports infrastructure in Nigeria, the stadiums in Uyo, Akwa Ibom state are currently undergoing renovation and regrassing, BSNSports.com.ng reports.

Uyo, particularly Goodswill Akpabio stadium has hosted major international matches involving national teams majorly Super Eagles matches.

The stadium also hosted the CAF Confederation Cup final in 2021 between Orlando Pirates of South Africa and RS Berkane of Morocco.

The three major stadiums in the state; Goodswill Akpabio, Eket and Uyo township stadiumsare already undergoing the renovations.

Goodswill Akpabio is one of the stadiums presented by the Nigeria Football Federation as one of the venues for the 2025 African Cup of Nations as the bidding process continues.

The ongoing renovation however is to boost the chance of being given the nod by CAF as one of the match venue for 2025 African Nations Cup.
