AFCON 2025: We’re Coming To Win – Onana Warns Nigeria, Rivals
Sampson Adedeji
Cameroon’s goalkeeper, André Onana, has issued a strong warning to all teams participating in the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON), according to BSNSports.com.ng reports
The five-time champions crashed out in the Round of 16 in the last edition after a 2-0 defeat to Nigeria’s Super Eagles. However, Onana believes Cameroon remains a top contender for the title.
"Cameroon is one of the favorites. We have to embrace our status as leaders. We are a great footballing nation," said the Manchester United shot-stopper.
"Our predecessors achieved incredible things. We must follow in their footsteps. AFCON is full of strong teams, but Cameroon will have its say."
Onana, brimming with confidence, made it clear he fears no opponent.
"I, André Onana, the Manchester United goalkeeper, am not afraid—though I have great respect for the competition," he stated.
"We have players at Napoli and other top clubs in elite leagues. That doesn’t guarantee victory, but it makes us serious contenders. We must be honest with ourselves."
Emphasizing teamwork and preparation, he added, "We have the squad to achieve great things. We need to work hard, stay focused, and maintain unity."
