Super Eagles head coach Eric Chelle has refused to publicly address the on-field argument between Victor Osimhen and Ademola Lookman during Nigeria’s Round of 16 clash against Mozambique at the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations, BSNSports.com.ng reports.
The incident occurred in the second half of the encounter in Fez, when both forwards were seen exchanging heated words following a passage of play, drawing attention from teammates and fans alike.
Speaking during his post-match press conference, Chelle made it clear that internal matters within the squad would not be discussed in public, stressing the importance of team unity and discipline.
“This is a question about my management,” Chelle said.
“What happened on the pitch will stay in the group. I don’t need to tell anyone what happened.” The Malian tactician further emphasised that any issues within the team would be handled internally and at the appropriate time.
“I keep that for me. Everything that happened in the group stays in the group. We will see after that, and we will talk,” he added.
Despite the brief altercation, Nigeria went on to secure a convincing victory over Mozambique, sealing their place in the quarter-finals as Chelle and his players now turn their attention to the next stage of the tournament.
