The Burkina Faso government has taken drastic action in the aftermath of the Stallions’ disappointing exit from the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations, suspending the national team and dismissing the entire coaching staff following their defeat to Ivory Coast, BSNSports.com.ng reports.

The decision, confirmed by sources close to the country’s sports authorities, comes amid growing public anger over the team’s performance and conduct at the tournament.

 The loss to the Elephants proved to be the final trigger for sweeping changes, with the government opting to intervene directly in the management of the national side.

In a further sign of the turmoil surrounding the team, several Burkina Faso players reportedly refused to return to the capital, Ouagadougou, after the defeat.

 Instead, the players chose to rejoin their respective clubs, a move that has intensified scrutiny on team unity and discipline.

The suspension of the national team effectively halts all international activities for Burkina Faso until further notice, while the dismissal of the coaching staff signals a complete reset of the technical structure.
