AFCON 2025 Set To Break Multiple Records

The 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) is on course to become the most ambitious and commercially successful edition in the history of the competition, with organizers confirming a series of unprecedented records and firsts even before the tournament kicks off.

AFCON 2025 has already set new benchmarks in ticket sales, recording the highest number of tickets sold in Africa and Europe for an AFCON tournament.

The competition has also attracted a record number of sponsors, while generating unprecedented revenue ahead of the opening match.

In terms of infrastructure, this edition will boast the highest total and average stadium capacity ever recorded at an AFCON. It will also feature the largest number of partner broadcasting countries, significantly expanding the tournament’s global reach.

Several historic firsts will further distinguish AFCON 2025 from previous editions. It will be the first AFCON to utilize nine stadiums, while each participating team will have its own dedicated training camp and will be accommodated in a five-star hotel throughout the competition.

From a broadcast and production standpoint, AFCON 2025 will set new standards on the continent. All matches will be transmitted in High Dynamic Range (HDR), with the first-ever use of drones, spidercams, and Ultra-Motion servers across every game.

Each match will deploy two drones and nine Ultra-Motion servers, ensuring enhanced analysis and viewing experience.

The tournament will also mark the first Africa Cup of Nations to feature live international broadcasting from on-field studios, bypassing traditional production hubs outside the continent.

In addition, AFCON 2025 will be the first edition to achieve complete centralization of audiovisual production from the host country, covering signal generation, production, and control.

Another major innovation is the integration of a high-speed rail network connecting several host cities, enabling fans to attend multiple matches in different locations on the same day.

With these milestones, AFCON 2025 is being widely described as an Africa Cup of Nations befitting the standards of the world’s biggest sporting competitions, underlining Africa’s growing capacity to host global-scale events.
