Mohamed Hamdi’s participation at the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations has officially come to an end following a serious injury sustained during Egypt’s match against Benin on Monday, BSNSports.com.ng reports.

According to an official update from the Egyptian national team’s medical department, the defender went down while attempting to clear a ball during the encounter and was unable to continue.

Initial assessments have confirmed that Hamdi will take no further part in the ongoing competition.

The medical team also raised concerns over the severity of the injury, admitting there are growing fears that the setback could keep the player sidelined for an extended period.

This development puts his availability for the upcoming FIFA World Cup in serious doubt.

Hamdi’s absence represents a significant blow to Egypt’s campaign, given his importance to the team’s defensive structure.

The coaching crew is now expected to explore replacement options as the Pharaohs look to adjust their plans for the remainder of the tournament.

Further medical examinations are expected in the coming days to determine the full extent of the injury and outline a clear recovery timeline.
