The Confederation of African Football (CAF) has explained the rationale behind the official tag “Pamoja” for the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations, BSNSports.com.ng reports.
According to CAF, the tournament has been branded AFCON Pamoja 2027 to reflect unity and togetherness, as “Pamoja” is a Swahili word that translates to “Together” or “Unity.”
The choice of the name underscores the unique nature of the 2027 edition, which will be jointly hosted by Kenya, Tanzania and Uganda, marking a historic first for East Africa.
CAF noted that the branding highlights the strong spirit of cooperation among the three host nations and celebrates regional integration through football.
CAF further stated that the “Pamoja” identity represents the broader vision of African unity, emphasizing football’s power to bring people together across borders, cultures and languages.
With the symbolic tag, CAF aims to portray AFCON 2027 as more than just a football competition, but a collective African celebration hosted by one region, one people and one football family.
