AFCON 2027: Host Nations Confirm List of Approved Stadiums

The three host nations for the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations Tanzania, Kenya, and Uganda have confirmed the list of stadiums that will be used for the continental showpiece, BSNSports.com.ng reports 

The Confederation of African Football (CAF) approved the venues following extensive inspections and infrastructure upgrades across the East African region, as preparations intensify for the tournament, which will be jointly hosted for the first time by the three countries.

Tanzania will host matches across four major venues. These include the iconic Benjamin Mkapa Stadium in Dar es Salaam, the newly constructed Samia Suluhu Hassan Stadium, Dodoma Stadium, and Amaan Stadium in Zanzibar.

Kenya has also lined up five stadiums for the competition. The venues are Talanta Stadium, Moi International Sports Centre, Kasarani, Nyayo National Stadium, Bukhungu Stadium, and the historic Kipchoge Keino Stadium in Eldoret.

Uganda will host AFCON 2027 matches in three stadiums, namely the newly commissioned Hoima Stadium, Akii Bua Stadium in Lira, and the refurbished Mandela National Stadium in Kampala.

CAF has commended the three nations for the significant progress made in stadium development, transport infrastructure, and accommodation facilities, describing the joint hosting arrangement as a major milestone for football development in East Africa.

AFCON 2027 is expected to attract millions of fans across the continent and beyond, further positioning Tanzania, Kenya, and Uganda as emerging hubs for major international sporting events.
