AFCON 2027: Tanzania, Uganda Fulfil CAF Financial Obligation As Kenya Yet To Remit

Two of the three co-hosts for the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) Tanzania and Uganda have deposited the required $30 million each into the Confederation of African Football (CAF) accounts, in line with the financial obligations tied to hosting the tournament.

 The deposits form part of CAF’s formal hosting requirements, which include financial guarantees aimed at ensuring adequate preparation, infrastructure development, and smooth organisation of the competition.

Kenya, the third co-host nation, is yet to complete its remittance, although sources indicate that the payment process is already underway and is expected to be finalised in the coming days.

The financial commitment by Tanzania and Uganda is viewed as a strong signal of readiness and institutional commitment to hosting Africa’s flagship football tournament, with all three countries expected to meet CAF’s full compliance benchmarks ahead of the 2027 finals.

The 2027 AFCON will be the first edition of the tournament to be jointly hosted by three East African nations, marking a historic milestone for football development and continental cooperation in the region.
