AFCON 2027 Qualifiers: Super Eagles To Know Opponents May 19

Nigeria’s senior national team, the Super Eagles, will discover their opponents for the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations qualifying series on May 19, BSNSports.com.ng reports.
The Confederation of African Football (CAF) has confirmed that the draw ceremony for the AFCON 2027 qualifiers will be conducted on May 19, 2026, ahead of the qualification campaign.
A total of 48 countries, including co-hosts Kenya, Tanzania and Uganda, will compete for qualification spots for the continental tournament tagged AFCON PAMOJA 2027.
According to the qualification format, the teams will be divided into 12 groups of four teams each, with the top two teams from every group advancing to the tournament.
The qualifying matches are scheduled to be played across different FIFA international windows.
The first set of games will hold between September and October 2026, while another round of fixtures is expected in November 2026. The final phase of the qualifiers will take place in March 2027.
Nigeria, three-time African champions, will be aiming to secure a place at the tournament and challenge for another continental title.
