Nigeria's coach, Portuguese José Peseiro, thanked President Bola Tinubu for his gesture towards the footballers and stated that, despite being 60 years old, this was the first time that a president had invited him to his home, BSNSports.com.ng reports.

The Portuguese gaffer led the Nigerian team to a second-place finish at the just concluded African Cup of Nations in Ivory Coast.

“It’s an honour and a source of pride for me,” said José Peseiro, adding that the Nigerian team “did a fantastic job and showed a very good spirit and played well.”

It's not yet clear if Peseiro will continue as the coach of the team going into the 2025 AFCON qualifier and 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifier.
