AFCON Final: Idrissa Gueye Dismisses Poisoning Claims

Senegal midfielder Idrissa Gueye has firmly denied reports that the Teranga Lions were poisoned ahead of the Africa Cup of Nations final, dismissing the claims as unfounded, BSNSports.com.ng reports.

Speculation had emerged following comments attributed to fellow Senegal international Ismail Jakobs, which suggested the team may have been poisoned before the decisive clash.

However, Gueye has moved to set the record straight, insisting there was no such incident.

“We were not poisoned before the final, and we always travel with our own chef,” Gueye said, contradicting the earlier claims and downplaying any suggestion of foul play.

The clarification is expected to put an end to the rumours that had gained traction in the aftermath of the AFCON final, as Senegal’s camp seeks to move on from the controversy and focus on future international engagements.
