AFCON Final: Moroccan Court Adjourns Case Of 18 Arrested Senegalese Fans

The Moroccan justice system has adjourned the trial of the 18 Senegalese supporters arrested in connection with disturbances that occurred during the African Cup of Nations (AFCON) final between Senegal and Morocco, BSNSports.com.ng reports.

The supporters were detained following incidents in the stands on the sidelines of the highly charged final, which drew massive attention across the continent.

The case, initially scheduled for hearing this week, has now been postponed to February 12, according to court officials.

In response to the arrests, the Senegalese government has stepped in, dispatching a team of lawyers to Morocco to provide legal representation and defend the detained fans in court. 

Diplomatic efforts are also ongoing, as Senegalese authorities continue to engage their Moroccan counterparts to ensure that due process is followed and that the rights of the arrested supporters are fully protected.

Further proceedings are expected when the case resumes on February 12.
