AFCON Final: Royal Moroccan Football Federation Schedules Special Meeting, Plans Counter-Attack

The Royal Moroccan Football Federation (FRMF) has provided further insight into its response to the sanctions imposed following incidents at the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations final, BSNSports.com.ng reports.

More than a month after the dramatic final in Rabat where Morocco suffered a 1–0 defeat after extra time to Senegal national football team on January 18 the federation has signaled its intention to challenge the disciplinary measures handed down by the Confederation of African Football (CAF).

The FRMF believes the sanctions imposed on Morocco were unjust, while also describing the penalties directed at Senegal as too lenient. 

In a statement issued after a meeting held on Thursday, the federation confirmed that it will convene a special session dedicated to the AFCON final and the subsequent disciplinary decisions.

“A special meeting will be dedicated to the Africa Cup of Nations in the coming days,” the statement read, stressing that legal proceedings related to the events surrounding the final are ongoing.

The federation maintained that the decisions of CAF’s Disciplinary Committee were unfair toward the Moroccan national team and reaffirmed its commitment to pursue the matter through appropriate legal channels to safeguard the integrity and regulations of football.
