AFCON Final: Senegal Sends Pool Of Lawyers To Defend Arrested Fans as Another Hearing Set For February 5

Senegal has dispatched a pool of lawyers to Morocco to defend Senegalese supporters arrested following the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) final, BSNSports.com.ng reports.

The fans were taken into custody after incidents of unruly conduct and vandalism during and after the AFCON final between host nation Morocco and Senegal. 

The disturbances reportedly led to damage to public and private property around the stadium precinct in Rabat

According to a statement from the team of legal representatives, the ongoing strike by local lawyers in Rabat remains in effect, but the Senegalese legal team will still appear at the scheduled court hearing on February 5. 

The Senegalese authorities facilitated the travel and logistics for all the lawyers involved to ensure legal representation for the detained supporters.

“The strike by our colleagues in Rabat is still ongoing, but we will be present for the hearing on February 5 to ensure the rights of the Senegalese citizens are fully protected,” a representative of the legal team said.

The case has drawn significant diplomatic and legal attention, with Senegalese officials working closely with Moroccan authorities to manage the situation and ensure due process for those involved.
