The Royal Moroccan Football Federation (FRMF) has officially submitted its defence to the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) following an appeal lodged by the Senegalese Football Federation over the hosting rights of the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations, BSNSports.com.ng reports.
The Senegalese Football Federation had challenged the decision of the Confederation of African Football (CAF) to award the hosting rights of the tournament to Morocco, raising concerns over the selection process.
In a statement released by the Moroccan football authorities, the FRMF confirmed that all defence arguments and supporting documents were filed within the legal deadlines set by CAS.
The case is expected to be reviewed by the competent commissions of the Lausanne-based sports tribunal, with both parties awaiting further proceedings.
Morocco was awarded the rights to host the 2025 AFCON by CAF after Guinea was stripped of the hosting rights due to concerns over infrastructure readiness and organisational delays.
The North African nation is preparing to host the continental showpiece for the second time after previously staging the tournament in 1988.
