AFCON Final Saga: Motsepe To Visit Morocco, Senegal

The President of the Confederation of African Football, Patrice Motsepe, has concluded plans to visit Morocco and Senegal in a bid to ease rising tensions between the two nations, BSNSports.com.ng reports.

The relationship between both countries has been strained following the controversial final of the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations. 

The situation further escalated after the ruling of CAF’s Appeal Committee, which has continued to generate reactions from both sides.

In response to the growing tension, Motsepe is set to engage key football stakeholders and authorities in both nations, aiming to restore calm and reinforce unity within African football.

Speaking on the situation, Motsepe stressed the importance of solidarity among African nations, emphasizing that football should serve as a unifying force rather than a source of division.

“We support you. We are all Africans. I said the same message to Moroccans. 

Many Senegalese people live in Morocco; we are not going to use football to divide people. It must bring people together,” Motsepe stated.

The planned visits are expected to play a crucial role in diffusing the ongoing dispute and preserving the integrity and unity of African football.
