AFCON Qualifiers: Hamstring Injury Stops Iwobi From Sao Tome Clash
By Emmanuel Chinedu
Everton midfielder Alex Iwobi is set to be out for a few weeks, due to injury, and he is now doubtful for the Super Eagles final Africa Cup of Nations qualifier against São Tomé and PrÃncipe in September, at the Godswill Akpabio Stadium, Uyo, BSNSports.com.ng reports.
The three-time African champions have already booked their place in the biennial competition with a 3-2 win over Sierra Leone in the last game played in Monrovia, Liberia.
Nigeria will face the Republic of Sao Tome and Principe in the last game and the Everton star is likely to miss the clash.
Iwobi sustained a hamstring injury in the Premier League game against Aston Villa last weekend and the reports coming from Goodison Park indicate that he will be out for a few weeks.
