AFCON Saga In Cameroon: Brys Includes Onana, Aboubakar In Final 28-Man Squad

The crisis rocking Cameroon football took a fresh turn on Monday evening after head coach Marc Brys unveiled his final 28-man squad for the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) in Morocco, BSNSports.com.ng reports.
The development comes days after the President of the Cameroon Football Federation (FECAFOOT), Samuel Eto’o, announced Brys’ dismissal and appointed Pagou as the new head coach, while also releasing a separate list of players for the tournament.
Despite the alleged sack, Brys insisted he remains the legitimate head coach of the Indomitable Lions, stating that his appointment was made by the Presidency through the Ministry of Sports and not by FECAFOOT.
He further claimed that he has not received any official termination letter from the authorities.
In a move that further deepened the controversy, Brys included all the high-profile players reportedly omitted from Eto’o’s list, including goalkeeper André Onana and striker Vincent Aboubakar, in his final squad.
The power tussle has thrown Cameroon’s AFCON preparations into uncertainty, with fans and stakeholders now awaiting clarity on which list will be recognised by CAF ahead of the competition in Morocco.
