AFCON Shouldn’t Be Underestimated – Bayern Boss

Bayern Munich head coach Vincent Kompany has stressed the significance of the Africa Cup of Nations, insisting the tournament deserves full respect and should not be underestimated, BSNSports.com.ng reports.

Speaking on Saturday afternoon, the former Manchester City defender highlighted the importance of the competition, particularly for African players who view AFCON as a major stage to represent their countries and showcase their talent.

 “The importance of this competition for African players shouldn’t be underestimated,” Kompany said.

The German Bundesliga champions will have representation at the tournament, with Nicolas Jackson set to turn out for Senegal at the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations in Morocco.

AFCON 2025 is expected to attract global attention, with several top European-based stars featuring for their respective nations, further underlining the tournament’s growing stature on the international stage.
