AFCON U20: Akhulia Cautions Flying Eagles To Brace For Tougher Kenya Challenge
Sampson Adedeji
Despite back-to-back defeats in their opening matches, Kenya U20 head coach Anthony Akhulia has issued a stern warning to Nigeria’s Flying Eagles ahead of their upcoming AFCON U20 clash, BSNSports.com.ng reports.
The Rising Stars endured heavy losses against Morocco and Tunisia but are determined to bounce back stronger when they face Nigeria.
“We're losing concentration towards the end of the first half—it happened again, just like in our first match,” Akhulia admitted.
“There were key moments where we should have stepped up, but instead we allowed Tunisia to dominate. That was our biggest shortcoming, and it's not acceptable.”
The coach emphasized that the issue lies with the team as a whole: “You can't blame individuals—it’s a collective problem. It's something we must address before our next match. It's definitely a concern for me and the entire technical team.”
Kenya will need a resounding win against Nigeria on Wednesday to stand a chance of qualifying as one of the best third-placed teams.
