As preparations intensify for the U20 Africa Cup of Nations in Egypt, Morocco’s Junior Atlas Lions are leaving no stone unturned in their bid for a strong showing, BSNSports.com.ng reports.
Moroccan football has been on an upward trajectory, highlighted by the senior national team’s impressive run at the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar.
Following the U17 team's qualification for the FIFA U17 World Cup, the focus has now shifted to the U20 side.
In a significant boost, the Royal Moroccan Football Federation, led by President Fouzi Lekjaa, has successfully secured FIFA clearance for Celta Vigo midfielder Jones El Abdellaoui to switch international allegiance from Spain to Morocco.
The 19-year-old, who made his La Liga debut this season, is widely regarded as one of the most promising young talents in Spanish football.
El Abdellaoui is expected to be included in Morocco’s final U20 AFCON squad, which is set to be announced on Friday.
Morocco will compete in Group B alongside Nigeria, Kenya, and Tunisia, setting the stage for a potential showdown with the Flying Eagles.
