AFCON Update: Agu Insists Injured Nwabali Still Has Chance To Make Squad
Sampson Adedeji
Super Eagles goalkeeper trainer, Alloy Agu, has expressed optimism that injured shot-stopper Stanley Nwabali could still recover in time to feature at the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations in Morocco, BSNSports.com.ng reports.
Nwabali has been sidelined since the World Cup playoffs and is yet to make an appearance due to a lingering injury. Despite concerns over his fitness, Agu believes the Chippa United goalkeeper may still force his way into the continental showpiece.
“I doubt it, looking at the state of his injury. I don’t think he will make it, but when I was talking to him, he was confident that he would recover very soon. But the reality is that for now, he is still injured,” Agu told Footy Africa.
He, however, added that he remains hopeful the goalkeeper could regain fitness in time.
“I also hope for the best that he might find himself there,” he said.
