AFCON Update: Akpeyi Blames Peseiro For Super Eagles Not Playing As A Team

By Sampson Adedeji

Nigerian International and Moroka Swallows goalkeeper Daniel Akpeyi has attributed the disjointed performance of the Super Eagles to the inability of coach Jose Peseiro not blend the team, BSNSports.com.ng reports.

Despite having an array of stars, the Nigerian side has been unable to put together a distinctive performance.

Akpeyi said the Super Eagles can be classified as a good team individually but when it comes to playing together is a different ball game.

“You might say the Super Eagles are a good team because almost all the players play overseas for some of the big teams in Europe but then again it’s a different ball game.

When you come together in the national team. You can have individuals but it’s very difficult to have a team and that [to have a team] depends on the coach to build a team.

There are other factors like injuries that put the team on the back foot,” he told Sowetan Live.
