With just five days to the kickoff of the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations in Morocco, the Confederation of African Football (CAF) has expressed strong confidence that the tournament will be the best in the competition’s history, BSNSports.com.ng reports.
CAF Secretary General, Véron Mosengo-Omba, made this assertion on Tuesday during a press conference held to present the final preparations for the tournament.
According to him, the level of enthusiasm, infrastructure, and organization surrounding the Morocco 2025 AFCON is unprecedented.
“We have never held an AFCON with such enthusiasm,” Mosengo-Omba stated.
He revealed that the tournament is set to break several records, supported by world-class infrastructure and arrangements designed to offer fans and stakeholders the best possible experience.
The CAF General Secretary also disclosed that more than one million tickets have already been sold ahead of the tournament, further underlining the growing excitement across the continent and beyond.
"The indicators are there. We have never held an AFCON with nine stadiums,” he added.
Highlighting the global appeal of the competition, Mosengo-Omba noted that AFCON 2025 will enjoy extensive international coverage, with 18 additional European countries set to broadcast the tournament.
This brings the total number of European broadcast territories to 30, alongside the 54 African nations.
He further confirmed that no fewer than 3,800 media organizations have already been accredited to cover the event, emphasizing the worldwide interest in Africa’s biggest football showpiece.
According to Mosengo-Omba, CAF and the Moroccan authorities are working tirelessly to ensure the tournament leaves a lasting legacy.
"We have never played an AFCON with such enthusiasm,” he reiterated, expressing optimism that Morocco 2025 will be a truly memorable edition.
