Tanzania have dropped Simba SC forward Seleman Mwalimu from their squad ahead of the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations in Morocco, following disciplinary issues, BSNSports.com.ng reports.
Mwalimu was not included in the Taifa Stars delegation that traveled to Egypt for their final phase of preparations, effectively ending his chances of featuring at the continental showpiece.
Sources close to the team revealed that the decision was taken by the technical crew after internal breaches of the team’s code of conduct, although official details of the incident were not disclosed.
The absence of the forward is seen as a major blow to Tanzania, as they prepare for a tough Group Stage battle against Nigeria, Tunisia, and Uganda.
The Taifa Stars are currently in camp in Egypt, where they are expected to play a series of friendly matches before flying to Morocco for the tournament.
