The Confederation of African Football ( CAF) has unveiled the trophy of the African Football League competition, BSNSports.com.ng reports.

After much deliberation and planning, the tournament finally kicked off on Friday in Tanzania.

Just before the kickoff, the President of CAF Patrice Motsepe unveiled the competition trophy in front of a large crowd.

The competition finally kicked off between the host Simba SC and Ahly of Egypt at the Benjamin Mkapa Stadium.

It was Reda Slim of Ahly who netted the opening goal of the competition in the 45th minute to silence the home crowd.

Simba came into the second half stronger and equalised through Kibu Dennis in the 53rd minute before Kanoute put the host ahead some minutes later.

Mahmoud Karabah levelled the game for Ahly in the 66th minute as it ended 2-2.

Ahly will host the second leg game at the Cairo International in a fortnight.
