AFN Confirms Date, Venue For 2025 National Open Athletics Championship

The Athletics Federation of Nigeria (AFN) has officially announced July 31 to August 7 as the dates for the National Open Athletics Championship, scheduled to take place in Abeokuta, Ogun State.

The confirmation came from the federation’s newly appointed Technical Director, Gabriel Okon, who recently succeeded Samuel Onikeku in the role. Okon made this known during the World Press Conference of CAA U18/20 Athletics Championship in Abuja on Wednesday.

The championship will serve as a major platform for top-tier domestic athletes to compete, and may also influence selection for future international engagements. It is expected to attract elite and emerging talents from across the country, covering a wide range of track and field events.

Further details, including venue logistics, qualifying standards, and registration guidelines, are expected to be released by the AFN in the coming days.
