By Niyi Busari
ASEC Mimosas’ remarkable debut campaign in the CAF Women’s Champions League reached new heights on Tuesday as the Ivorian side secured a hard-fought 1–0 victory over FC Masar in their semi-final clash at the Suez Canal Stadium in Ismailia, Egypt, booking their place in the tournament’s final, BSNSports.com.ng reports.
After a tense and evenly balanced first half, ASEC finally broke the deadlock in the 73rd minute. The decisive moment came when 22-year-old forward Essi Dagba produced a composed finish to give her side the lead.
FC Masar responded by pressing aggressively for an equaliser, but ASEC’s disciplined defensive structure and composure under pressure ensured they maintained their advantage until full time.
The win caps a stunning run for ASEC Mimosas, who have reached the final in their maiden appearance in the competition marking one of the standout stories of this season’s tournament.
They will face former champions AS FAR in Friday’s final on 21 November, with both sides set to battle for the coveted TotalEnergies CAF Women’s Champions League title.
