AWBL: Sporting Alexandria Defeats Nigeria Customs

Nigeria’s sole representatives at the FIBA Africa Women's Basketball League, AWBL, Nigeria Customs suffered back-to-back defeats to Sporting Alexandria by 96-57, BSNSports.com.ng reports.Â
The Border Girls, who came into the game after a 73-53 loss to KPA of Kenya trailed by the end of the first quarter by 20-18.Â
At half-time, the hosts extended their lead to 11 points with Maranne Johnson and Tomi Taiwo leading as Customs' top performers respectively with 9 points each.Â
The 3rd quarter saw Sporting Alexandria stretch the lead to 19 points while the final quarter ended 96-57 in favour of the hosts, who ran out victorious.Â
Captain Nkem Akaraiwe, who has shown why she deserves a D'Tigress call up ahead of the Olympics qualifiers in February, will lead her team to their last group game against CNSS of Congo DR.
