Abdoulaye Fall has been elected as the new president of the Senegalese Football Federation (FSF), succeeding Augustin Senghor after a tense electoral process, BSNSports.com.ng reports.
Following 15 years under Senghor’s leadership, the FSF saw a change at the top after a heated election marred by disagreements over the process and temporary suspensions of proceedings. The vote eventually took place late Saturday night.
Out of 509 eligible ballots, 461 delegates voted. The first-round results were:
Abdoulaye Fall: 301 votes
Mady Touré: 116 votes
Augustin Senghor: 92 votes
Oumar Ndiaye: 1 vote
Aliou Goloko: 0 votes
As no candidate secured the required two-thirds majority (334 votes), a second round was held between Abdoulaye Fall and Mady Touré. Fall ultimately triumphed with 322 votes to Touré’s 30, officially becoming the new FSF president.
