 Aberdeen: Why We Signed Nigerian Midfielder Amid Several Options

The Sporting Director of Scottish Premiership side Aberdeen, Lutz Pfannenstiel, has explained the club’s decision to sign Nigeria’s Super Eagles midfielder, Afeez Aremu, despite having several options available, BSNSports.com.ng reports.

The Scottish giants recently announced the arrival of the Nigerian international from German Bundesliga II outfit, Kaiserslautern, as part of their squad reinforcement ahead of the new campaign.

Speaking on the club’s recruitment decision, Pfannenstiel highlighted Aremu’s physicality, experience, and tactical intelligence as key factors behind the move.

“Afeez is going to bring a real physical edge to the squad, something which I think we have been looking for,” Pfannenstiel said.

“He’s strong, robust and comes with good experience in a competitive environment in Germany.

“He’s also tactically aware, so combined with all his athletic attributes, we believe he can adapt well to the intensity of the Scottish game and make a real impact.”

Aberdeen believe the addition of Aremu will strengthen their midfield options as the club targets improved performances domestically and in continental competitions.
