The Abia State Government has commenced the reconstruction of the Umuahia Township Stadium as part of efforts to improve sports infrastructure in the state, BSNSports.com.ng reports. ‎ ‎

The development comes ahead of the 2026/2027 Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) season, with Abia Warriors set to temporarily relocate from their traditional home ground. ‎ ‎

Abia Warriors have adopted the Elephant Park in Aba as their temporary home venue for the forthcoming NPFL campaign. ‎ ‎

The Umuahia Township Stadium is expected to undergo rehabilitation to improve its facilities and provide a suitable environment for sporting activities when the reconstruction is completed. ‎ ‎

Abia Warriors will consequently play their home fixtures at Elephant Park, Aba, while the reconstruction work at the Umuahia Township Stadium continues. ‎ ‎ ‎
