Sampson Adedeji
Abia Comets FC has officially appointed former Bayelsa United manager Diepreye Teibowei as the club’s new Technical Adviser, according to BSNSports.com.ng.
Teibowei, who led Bayelsa United to a historic Federation Cup triumph in 2021, takes charge with a clear mandate to rebuild and reposition the team for a stronger push in the Nigeria National League (NNL) Super Eight playoffs.
Also joining the revamped technical crew is Monday Eguavoen, ex-head coach of 1472 FC, who steps in as Chief Coach, replacing Okechukwu Ejeh following the conclusion of the 2024/25 NNL campaign.
During their official unveiling, Club Chairman Chief Boniface Alozie Uche expressed confidence in the new appointments, describing the duo as seasoned professionals capable of transforming the club’s fortunes.
“These are coaches with vast experience and a deep understanding of the game. We trust them to take Abia Comets to the next level,” Uche said, while urging the existing technical staff to offer their full support.
In his remarks, Teibowei thanked the club for the opportunity and laid out his vision for success.
“My aim is not just to reach the NNL Super 8, but to secure promotion to the Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL). It’s a team effort, everyone has a role to play, and together, we’ll push this club forward,” he said.
Eguavoen echoed similar sentiments, emphasizing unity and focus. “We’ll work as a unit. I appreciate this opportunity, and we’re determined to deliver positive results and improve the squad,” he said.
After falling just short of playoff qualification last season, Abia Comets are now hopeful of a strong comeback under their newly appointed technical leadership.
