Abia Comets Fall 1-0 To Supreme Kings Football Academy

Abia Comets Football Club of Umuahia suffered a 1-0 defeat to Supreme Kings Football Academy in a friendly game on Friday, as preparation continues ahead of 2023/24 Nigeria National League (NNL) season, BSNSports.com.ng reports. 

Abia Comets head coach, Kevin Ejeh selected fringe players, largely made up of new players who are on trial.

Players such as Nsikak Sunday, Emeka Maduka, Godwin Samuel, Prince Nwachukwu, Uche Franklin, John Ojukwu, Okorie Udochukwu, Jonathan Okoloko, Chinaita Eluwa, Ikenna Ogu and Ifeanyi Iroakazi, but it was the lower division side who went ahead inside 15 minute, when forward, Paul Pascal scored from close range to beat goalkeeper, Nsikak Sunday, to give Supreme Kings a 1-0 lead. 

In the second half, Comets coach , Kevin Ejeh made eight changes as he introduced the players, who are expected to be part of the team ahead of the new season, with Okechukwu Chukwu, Oscar Nwaimo, Mbata Kingsley, Ebuka Lazarus, Sadiq Yakubu, Jonny John, Micah Chiwendu and Sunday Kalu all coming on.

It was a better performance in the second half for Abia Comets and the gaffer expressed satisfaction with the players' performance.

The team will be back to training on Monday as they continue their preparation ahead of the kickoff of the 2023/24 Nigeria National League season slated for October 28, 2023.

Abia Comets FC will be on the road to Ekiti State for a battle against Ekiti United, in a Southern Conference Group A Matchday 1 encounter in a date soon to be confirmed by the NNL board.
