Abia Warriors Ready For El-Kanemi Clash - Wilson Elu
Precious Oham
Abia Warriors utility player, Wilson Elu, has stated that Umu Chineke are focused on securing the maximum points on Sunday, as they battle El-Kanemi Warriors of Maiduguri at the Umuahia Township Stadium in a Matchday eight encounter of the Nigeria Premier Football League, BSNSports.com.ng reports.
During a chat with the club's media, the versatile player was bullish on the team's readiness for the game against El-Kanemi Warriors even as he brushed aside excuses.
The game comes on the heels of back-to-back away games in Ilorin and Enugu in four days, where the Warriors secured their first away win of the season in the north-central state, but lost in the latter, a result Elu opined the Warriors are not making excuses for fatigue but rather are focused on winning the game on Sunday.
"As professionals we wouldn't want to make excuses for fatigue and all that. Yes, there's a case for that, but as professionals, we are focused on the job at hand, which is to get the job done on Sunday by defeating El-Kanemi Warriors. We are prepared one hundred percent", Elu stated.
He further stated that the Warriors have moved on from the Rangers game and are fixated on the El-Kanemi clash.
"Our gaffer inculcated in us a progressive mentality, and so, once a game is done and dusted, we move on to the next one. Our focus is on the next home game (against El-Kanemi Warriors). We will not dwell on the Enugu Rangers defeat. We have put that behind us."
The Warriors have averaged 0.7 goals (scored) per game and 0.6 goals conceded, whereas El-Kanemi Warriors have averaged 0.9 goals (scored) and 0.7 goals conceded.
Following the defeat against Rangers in Enugu, Abia Warriors dropped to 4th position on the league table with 12 points after seven games, while El-Kanemi Warriors are occupying the 7th position with 11 points after the same number of matches.
Abia Warriors will welcome El-Kanemi Warriors of Maiduguri at the Umuahia Township Stadium on Sunday, 12th October 2025. Kickoff time is 4:00 pm.
