Abuja All Stars Survive SWAN Onslaught, Record Slim Victory In Friendly Match

Former junior international and Abuja All stars attacking midfielder Nasir Jubril was the hero as his team survived relentless attack from Sports Writers Association of Nigeria, FCT chapter to record a slim one-nil win in a novelty match on Friday.


Nasir Jubril rekindled his glorious days with a delicate free kick in the first half to settle the contest between two teams looking for the bragging rights in the federal capital territory.


Despite parading former Super Eagles defender and team co-ordinator, Patrick Paschal and former junior international Nasir Jibril, the SWAN team were too hard a nut to crack for the stars studded Abuja veterans.


The sports writer paraded a dreaded strike force in the mold Tobi, Killa, Udeme while Obasi, Bukunmi and Amaechi Agbo were orchestrating things from the midfield, the defence was Marshalled by indefatigable Collins Ajibola supported by Odion Musa with Saheed and Mo Salah on the either side of the defence.


Though the SWAN team created few goal scoring opportunities but they gave a good account of themselves despite referee thwarting the chances .


The friendly match between the two sides is meant to herald the kick-off of Abuja veterans invitational tournament with 12 teams participating in the competition.
