Abuja National Stadium Wears New Look Ahead Super Eagles versus Guinea Bissau Match
By Abidoye Babatunde
The federal government has taken delivery of a world class face-lift at the Moshood Abiola National Stadium, Abuja, BSNSports.com.ng reports.
This follows the bad state the pitch witnessed after many international and domestic league matches were played between March and June 2022. There was no proper maintenance making the pitch an eyesore on 4th June, 2022 when Nigeria women's U17 national team, Flamingoes picked the World ticket after beating Ethiopia 1-0 on aggregate.
And in order to revamp the Abuja stadium ahead of the Nigeria Super Eagles versus Guinea Bissau in the 2023 African Nations Cup qualifier, the pitch has been undergoing rehabilitation with re-grassing.
Earlier in the week, Ministry of Youth and Sports Development acquired a new VIP team seater for the stadium.
Meanwhile, the two practice pitches have enjoyed revamping as well. As part of maintenance plans new sprinklers have been installed on the pitch, while groundsmen continually work on the surface.
Nigeria are topping group A with maximum 6 points from two matches.
