Ahead of the 2023 African Games, the president of the Association of African Sports Confederation General Naser Hammed paid a visit to Ghana and shared optimism on the games, BSNSports.com.ng has gathered.
The Local Organising Committee( LOC) last week announced the postponement of the games to 2024 due to logistics reasons.
General Nasser provided a briefing on the tasks ahead and requested that the Federation heads submit technical requirements regarding the facilities and logistics needed.
This information will form part of determining the new date for the Games and making the sports code an Olympic qualifier.
He expressed that the majority of the confederations and international federations are ready to support the local federations in Ghana in the organization of the Games.
He encouraged the Federation Heads to liaise with the confederations and international bodies for assistance and assured them of his follow-up in ensuring they receive the required help from their respective international Confederation heads and federations.
General Nasser expressed optimism that Ghana would host an exceptional African Games.
“This is GHANA, and the African Games must be exceptional. The Accra 2023 Games should be better than the 2019 Rabat Games, and Ghana deserves to leave a legacy with this African Games. We must all come together to support this dream", he said.
