Adeleke Wins Golden Boot As Zongo Claims MVP Award At 2026 WAFU B U-20 Championship

Flying Eagles forward Abdulmuiz Adeleke has been crowned the highest goalscorer of the 2026 WAFU Zone B U-20 Championship after finishing the tournament with five goals, BSNSports.com.ng reports.

Adeleke was among the standout performers in Côte d’Ivoire, where he established himself as one of the competition’s most dangerous attacking players.

The Nigerian forward scored twice against Ghana and added another brace against Togo during the group stage, taking his tally to five goals and earning him the tournament’s Golden Boot.

The achievement marks a historic milestone for Nigerian football, with Adeleke becoming the first Nigerian male player to win the official Top Scorer award at the WAFU Zone B U-20 Championship.

While Adeleke claimed the individual scoring prize, Burkina Faso dominated the other major individual honours.

Burkina Faso goalkeeper Rahim Ouattara was named the tournament’s best goalkeeper and received the Golden Glove, while his compatriot Mohamed Zongo was crowned Most Valuable Player.
