Adeniji’s Creative Display Powers Millwall Against Bristol City

Nigerian-born British defender Aaron Adeniji delivered an impressive performance for Millwall FC U18 in their academy fixture against Bristol City FC U18, contributing two assists in a standout display, BSNSports.com.ng reports.

Adeniji, who recently signed a scholarship deal with Millwall FC after progressing through the club’s U16 setup, has already begun to make a strong impression within the academy. Despite being eligible for a younger age group, the promising full-back has frequently been selected to play at higher levels.

During the match played on March 7, Adeniji—naturally a right-back—was deployed on the left side of defence to provide cover. The positional switch did little to limit his influence as he quickly became involved in Millwall’s attacking play.

The defender played a key role in the opening goal just three minutes into the match. A surging run from defence into midfield allowed Adeniji to thread a precise pass through to the left winger, who went on to create the move that resulted in Millwall’s early lead.

He was again involved in the build-up to Millwall’s second goal early in the second half. In the 54th minute, a corner kick was delivered to a teammate positioned at the edge of the penalty area. After the player missed the ball, Adeniji reacted quickly to collect possession and delivered a cross into the box that led directly to the team’s second goal.

Adeniji nearly added another assist later in the half. In the 68th minute, he made an overlapping run from left-back, beat a defender and drove a low cross across the six-yard box. However, the opportunity went unfinished as the forward was unable to convert.

Known for his pace, positional awareness and attacking instincts, Adeniji fits the profile of a modern full-back capable of influencing both defensive and offensive phases of play. His ability to support attacks while maintaining defensive discipline has made him a promising prospect within the Millwall academy system.

With performances like this at youth level, the young defender is beginning to attract attention and could potentially come into consideration for the Nigeria national under-17 football team in the future.
