African Athletics Championship: Selected Athletes Will Be Medal Contenders In Ndola - Onikeku

Ahead of the 2023 U18 and U20 Athletics Championship in Ndola Zambia, the Technical Director of the Athletics Federation of Nigeria(AFN) Samuel Onikeku has expressed confidence in the selected athletes for the events, BSNSports.com.ng reports.

Forty-two athletes consisting of 23 U18 girls and boys, and 19 U20 men and women were selected for the championship in Zambia.

They departed the country in batches on Tuesday and Wednesday due to difficulties in getting complete flight tickets for the team.

While speaking to the Guardian, Onikeku said the selected athletes will grow into the game and will eventually become medal contenders.

 â€œWe selected the best crop of young athletes, who will not only be medal contenders in Ndola but will grow to become one of the best in their events,” Onikeku stated.

The championship is scheduled to commence this weekend.
