African CAA Championships: AFN Calls 90 Athletes To Camp

The Athletics Federation of Nigeria (AFN) has invited 90 junior athletes to a national training camp ahead of the Confederation of African Athletics (CAA) U-20 and U-18 Championships, slated for July 16–20 in Abeokuta, Ogun State, BSNSports.com.ng reports.

The three-week camp is aimed at sharpening the athletes’ physical and technical readiness, with a strong focus on relay team coordination as Nigeria targets a dominant showing on home soil.

According to the AFN, the extended camp duration will enable coaches to closely monitor performance, assess fitness levels, and finalize squad selection based on form and consistency.

As hosts, Nigeria is under pressure to deliver top results across multiple track and field events, with local support expected to inspire the young talents to rise to the occasion.

The Abeokuta championships present a vital opportunity for the country’s up-and-coming athletes to compete against Africa’s best, while laying a foundation for future success at senior international levels.
