The Nigeria Rugby Football Federation has revealed why the team failed to impress in the ongoing African Cup 7s championship in Mauritius BSNSports.com.ng reports.

Playing at the Labourdonnais Stadium, the Nigerian team made a bright start by thrashing Madagascar 34-14 but slumped to 25-0 and 24-5 defeats to Kenya and Mauritius in the second and third matches, and eventually crashed out of the championship.

"We’ve battled hard despite both captains being injured and the team still gelling together. Some newly joined players have shown promise, while others are still adapting. Onward and upward", the Federation reacted.

It remains to be seen if the Nigerian side will be able to participate in the second round of the championship.
