African Cycling Championship: Team Nigeria Wins 16 Medals In Abuja

Team Nigeria delivered an impressive performance at the 2026 Confederation of African Cycling Para-Track and Track African Championships, claiming a total of 16 medals at the ongoing competition in Abuja, BSNSports.com.ng reports.

The championship, taking place at the Moshood Abiola National Stadium Velodrome, has attracted top cyclists from across Africa, including participants from Egypt, Kenya, South Africa, Algeria and hosts Nigeria.

After two days of competition, Nigeria topped the medals table with nine gold, five silver and two bronze medals, finishing ahead of some of the continent’s established cycling nations.

Egypt currently occupy second position on the standings with 14 medals, while Kenya are third with nine medals.

South Africa and Algeria complete the top five on the medals table as the championship continues in Abuja.
